Eugene Springfield NAACP General Meeting 2026 on Legal Redress

Officer Election and Legal Redress.
6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at the Clear Lake Community Center in Eugene, or join online. Open to everyone.
The Eugene Springfield NAACP General Meeting 2026 for October takes place Wednesday, October 21, from 6:00 to 7:30 PM at the Clear Lake Community Center, 4646 Barger Drive in Eugene, with an online option for anyone who cannot attend in person. This month the meeting is open to the whole community. The agenda covers the branch’s upcoming officer election and a legal redress presentation from Sybil Hebb of the Oregon Law Center.
Legal Redress and the Role of Legal Aid in Oregon
Legal redress is one of the oldest jobs the NAACP does. When someone faces discrimination at work, in housing, in school or with police, the branch’s legal redress committee helps them understand their options and connects them to the people who can act. That work depends on a strong network of legal aid, because most families facing a legal problem cannot afford a private attorney.
Guest speaker Sybil Hebb is Director of Legislative Advocacy at the Oregon Law Center in Portland, the statewide nonprofit that provides free civil legal help to low-income Oregonians. She will explain how legal redress works, what legal aid services can and cannot do, and how community members can get help or push for stronger protections in Salem. Anyone who has wondered where to turn when they are treated unfairly will leave with practical answers.
Free and open to everyone. Come to Clear Lake Community Center or join the meeting online.
Meet the Candidates for Branch Office
