Snohomish NAACP Launches Bill Reed Educator of Distinction Award
The NAACP Snohomish County is proud to announce the establishment of a prestigious new honor: the NAACP Bill Reed Educator of Distinction Award. This award, set to be presented at the upcoming 2026 Freedom Fund Gala, recognizes the transformative power of education and the individuals who dedicate their lives to uplifting the next generation.
Dr. Monica Meadows, First Vice President of the NAACP Snohomish County, issued a call to the community to identify and celebrate those who serve as pillars of support for our youth. This award is designed to honor K-12 public school educators and higher education professionals within Snohomish County who have made a notable, tangible impact on the lives of Black students. While all nominations are welcome and will be considered, the committee notes that preference will be given to Black educators who model excellence and resilience in the classroom.
The creation of this award underscores the NAACP’s commitment to educational equity and the recognition of those who go above and beyond to ensure Black students thrive. Community members are urged to reflect on the teachers, professors, and educational staff who have made a difference in their lives or the lives of their students.
