NAACP Annual State Convention – Our 2025 Vision

Save the date and get ready to be a part of the movement! The NAACP Alaska, Oregon, Washington State Area Conference (AOWSAC) Annual State Convention is where we will shape OUR 2025 vision for justice, advocacy, and empowerment.

This year’s convention will bring together activists, leaders, and community members to strategize, organize, and mobilize for a stronger future. Expect powerful discussions, impactful workshops, and invaluable networking opportunities designed to advance civil rights in our region. We are incredibly honored to host civil rights icon Dr. John Carlos as our keynote speaker for the annual dinner.

Here’s a look at what we have planned for our time together:

Saturday, September 13, 2025: A Day of Action & Insight

• • 8:00 AM – 11:00 AM: Business Meeting.

• • 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM: Workshop 1: “Healing the Divide- Working Through Infighting” with Ashley McGirt Adair, Health Chair (WA).

  

• • • 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM: Luncheon featuring “Our Project 2025” presentation by President Sheley Secrest.

  

• • 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM: Concurrent Workshops:
    • “The Revolution WILL be televised-Planning Mass Movements and Direct Actions” with the NAACP State Area Conference Youth Council.
    • “The Rules of the Game- officer’s Training” with Darlene, Sheley, and Dale.

• 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM: Evening Reception, Dinner, and Keynote Address from Dr. John Carlos.

Sunday, September 14, 2025: Building & Growing Together

• • 8:00 AM – 9:00 AM: Benediction and Breakfast.

• • 9:00 AM – 10:45 AM: Morning Workshops:
    • (9:00 AM – 10:00 AM) “Parliamentary Procedures Training” with Sheley.
    • (10:00 AM – 10:45 AM) “Growing Your Branch-Chartering Guidelines” with Makkai Griffin, Youth/Branch Coordinator.
