Louder Than Hate: Trans & Queer Joy as Resistance

August 30 @ 4:00 pm - 9:00 pm

📅 Date: Saturday, August 30, 2025
🕓 Time: 4:00 PM – 9:00 PM
📍 Location: Washington Hall, 153 14th Ave, Seattle, WA

The NAACP Alaska Oregon Washington State Area Conference (AOWSAC) stands proudly with the Lavender Rights Project, community leaders, and our Black, Trans, and Queer family in support of Louder Than Hate: Trans & Queer Joy as Resistance.

This powerful gathering is a celebration of resilience and solidarity, affirming that joy itself is an act of defiance against hate. Through music, art, and community, we will lift up queer and trans lives, especially Black trans women and femmes, who continue to face disproportionate violence and discrimination. Together, we honor their leadership and courage while demanding a future grounded in justice and liberation.

In Solidarity

“The NAACP has a long legacy of fighting for freedom, justice, and dignity in the face of hate. Today, that fight must also center queer and trans lives.” – Deaunte Damper, LGBTQ Chair, NAACP AOWSAC

Event Highlights

  • Music, Art & Voices of Resistance: Performances and storytelling that uplift trans and queer joy
  • Community Celebration: A call to action rooted in healing, resilience, and solidarity

Why It Matters

Events like Louder Than Hate remind us that liberation is collective. Hate has no place in Seattle, in Washington, or anywhere. Together, we rise for justice, safety, dignity, and joy.
