The Alaska Housing Summit 2026 is a free virtual event on Thursday, November 19, 2026, from 5:30 to 7:30 PM Alaska Time, hosted by the NAACP State Area Conference of Alaska, Oregon and Washington. The Alaska Housing team will walk through homeownership opportunities, new NAACP housing programs and the steps families can take now to get financially ready to buy. Every Alaskan, and anyone who cares about Alaska, is welcome to join.
Why Housing, and Why Now
Owning a home is still the main way most families build wealth they can pass down. In Alaska, the path to getting there has its own hurdles: high building costs, a tight market in Anchorage and the Mat-Su, and long distances between rural communities and the lenders and programs that serve them. Black families across the state feel those hurdles twice, because the gap in homeownership that started with redlining has never fully closed.
This summit is about closing that gap one household at a time. The Alaska Housing team will share what is coming in 2027, explain programs you may not know you qualify for, and answer the questions people usually carry around for years before asking anyone.

Who You Will Hear From
The conversation is led by people working on housing in Alaska every day. Sean Sullivan, Housing Chair, will cover the new NAACP housing programs. The Economic Development Chair will talk about financial preparedness and building independence through ownership. Jasmin Smith, Vice President for Alaska, will host and connect the work to the conference’s plans for 2027. Special guest Jarre Lee joins the panel as well.

You do not need to own a home, be ready to buy or be an NAACP member to attend. Renters, first-time buyers, parents planning for their kids and anyone working on housing in their own community will all get something useful out of these two hours.
