Lydia Barlow unanimously confirmed as NAACP Regional Policy Chair

On May 12, 2021, Lydia Flora Barlow was appointed and unanimously confirmed by the Executive Committee as NAACP Alaska Oregon Washington’s Policy Chair. 

Lydia has over 15 years of senior level executive experience in the financial services industry working in cross-functional senior leadership teams of executives leading business strategy and oversight, finance, governance and risk-management.  Lydia has a graduate degree in biostatistics from the University of Washington and has an established record of success at developing businesses and strategies within matrixed organizations from incubation to design, iterative execution and steady-state management. 

Additionally, Lydia has served on boards and founded organizations to increase access to liberation education including serving as chair of the Seattle Central College Foundation and founding Fabian’s Fund which, among other things, funds higher education in prison provided by the Black Prisoners’ Caucus’ TEACH and provides funding for projects like the film “Since I Been Down”. She is co-chair as a Governor’s appointee to the Statewide Reentry Council and as a legislative appointee to the Washington State Criminal Sentencing Task Force.

Lydia comes with a history of policy work.   She is a member of the NAACP/AOWSAC Criminal Justice Committee and has volunteered on an ad hoc basis assisting NAACP/AOWSAC during negotiations with key stakeholders

Our NAACP State Conference welcomes Lydia to our leadership team.  She will be working to enhance policy design and execution across our region.
