When someone faces discrimination at work\, in housing\, in school or with police\, the branch’s legal redress committee helps them understand their options and connects them to the people who can act. That work depends on a strong network of legal aid\, because most families facing a legal problem cannot afford a private attorney. \nGuest speaker Sybil Hebb is Director of Legislative Advocacy at the Oregon Law Center in Portland\, the statewide nonprofit that provides free civil legal help to low-income Oregonians. She will explain how legal redress works\, what legal aid services can and cannot do\, and how community members can get help or push for stronger protections in Salem. Anyone who has wondered where to turn when they are treated unfairly will leave with practical answers. \nJoin Us on October 21 \nFree and open to everyone. Come to Clear Lake Community Center or join the meeting online. \nJoin Online\nBranch Event Page\nMeet the Candidates for Branch Office\nThe NAACP Eugene-Springfield Branch 1119 holds its officer election on November 19\, and this meeting is where members first hear from the people running. At the Eugene Springfield NAACP General Meeting 2026\, candidates for branch office will introduce themselves and share why they want to serve. The meeting is open to everyone\, but only current members will receive a ballot to vote for officers in November\, so this is also a good moment to join or renew a membership. \nWhat to Expect at the Eugene Springfield NAACP General Meeting 2026\n\nOfficer candidate introductionsHear from the members running for branch office ahead of the November 19 election.\nLegal redress presentationSybil Hebb of the Oregon Law Center on legal redress and legal aid for low-income Oregonians.\nBallot updateWhat to know about the November 3 general election and returning your ballot on time.\nCommunity announcementsUpcoming NAACP and partner events in Lane County.\nQuestions and conversationTime to ask questions and share what is happening in your neighborhood.\n\nYour November 3 Ballot\nMail your ballot by October 27 \nOregon ballots went out October 14.
